Windows 11 2023 Update: What’s New and How to Get It
Microsoft has announced the availability of the Windows 11 2023 Update (also known as Windows 11, version 23H2), introducing a range of new features and enhancements.
A Streamlined Update
The latest update is a scoped, cumulative release, combining all recent features with some exciting new enhancements.
“Today, we are announcing the availability of the Windows 11 2023 Update. We are providing a limited scope of new features and functionality delivered via a familiar, fast and reliable update experience.” – John Cable, Vice President, Program Management, Windows Servicing and Delivery
Microsoft Teams Integration
Chat is now Microsoft Teams and is pinned by default to the taskbar. This new integration provides a mini communications experience, allowing users to chat, call, meet and create community groups with just a click or two.
Improved Application Management
Changes have also been made to how you manage your applications. Windows 11 system components now show a “system” label under All apps on the Start menu. The management page for these components has been relocated to Settings > System > System Components.
How to Get the Update
Windows 11, version 23H2 shares the same code base and servicing branch as Windows 11, version 22H2. This means the feature update will be delivered using servicing technology, providing a fast installation experience.
“If we detect that your device may have an issue, such as an application incompatibility, we may put a safeguard hold in place and not offer the update until that issue is resolved.” – John Cable, Vice President, Program Management, Windows Servicing and Delivery
Users with eligible devices running Windows 11, version 22H2 can access the new enhancements by navigating to Settings > Windows Update, turning on “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available,” and selecting “Check for updates”.
Rollout Process
The auto-updating rollout process will begin in the coming months. More information will be shared on the Windows release health hub as it becomes available.
Information for Commercial and Education Customers
Version 23H2 is now available through Windows Server Update Services, Windows Update for Business, and the Volume Licensing Service Center.
