Backup is now the default on eligible Windows 11 26H2 devices. Restore still is not. Settings leave the device on an eight-day schedule whether or not you configured anything, and a refresh without an explicit restore policy gives users no payoff. Audit EnableWindowsbackup policy state, eligibility scope, and the July 2026 ESR management move before the refresh wave hits.
Windows 11 24H2 Home and Pro need a confirmed upgrade, not just an assigned policy. Separate supported Enterprise devices, check prerequisites and restart completion, then validate the Intune trouter wildcard before retiring old exceptions.
Windows Cloud Rebuild reinstalls the OS from Windows Update — image and drivers, no USB — even when Windows won’t boot. It’s Experimental-channel pre-release, not GA yet, so validate it in the lab first.
