New Updates for Snipping Tool and Phone Link

Exciting news for tech enthusiasts! Windows Insiders are rolling out updates for Snipping Tool and Phone Link, aiming to enhance your Windows 11 experience.

Revamping the Snipping Tool

Windows Insiders have started to roll out updates to the Snipping Tool for the Canary and Dev Channels. The goal? To improve your capture experience on Windows 11.

Introducing Text Actions

The Snipping Tool update introduces Text Actions. This feature detects text in your captured screenshots, making it easy to copy and share text from any image or paste it into another app.

“With this update to Snipping Tool, we are introducing Text Actions, which detects text in your captured screenshots, making it easy to copy text from any image to share with others or paste in another app.”

Redacting Sensitive Information

Text Actions also allows you to redact sensitive information in screenshots before sharing. Quick Redact can automatically hide emails and phone numbers, or you can manually select any text to hide.

Phone Link’s Remote Capture

Alongside the Snipping Tool update, Windows Insiders are gradually rolling out a new feature for Phone Link. This feature lets you access and edit your most recent photos from your Android device in Snipping Tool on your PC.

“We are also beginning to gradually roll out a new feature for Phone Link that introduces the ability to effortlessly access and edit your most recent photos from your Android mobile device in Snipping Tool on your PC.”

This means no more missed opportunities. You’ll receive instant notifications on your PC whenever a new photo is captured on your Android device, provided both devices are connected via Phone Link.
