Unlocking Natural Language Search in Power Pages Lists
Microsoft just rolled out a game-changing feature for Power Pages users: Natural Language (NL) Search for lists. This update lets you filter and find data using simple, conversational queries powered by AI. No more wrestling with complex filters or exact keywords—just type what you want to find.
What’s New?
Natural Language Search transforms how you interact with list data. Instead of rigid search terms, you can now use everyday language. For example, typing “Orders over 500 dollars” will fetch relevant results instantly. The system understands both casual phrases and precise text-based searches, making data exploration smoother than ever.
“Natural Language Search enables users to interact with list data in a more intuitive and conversational manner.”
To start using this feature, make sure your Power Pages site is updated to version 9.7.4.x or later. Then, simply enable the toggle in your list settings. It’s a quick setup that opens up a whole new way to search.
Major Updates and How to Enable
Enabling NL Search is straightforward:
- Select the list you want to upgrade.
- Click Edit List > More options.
- Find and turn on Enable search in this list.
- Make sure Search with natural language is also activated.
- Save your changes.
Once enabled, your list supports two main search modes:
Natural Language Queries
Use conversational phrases longer than two words to get precise results. For example, “show me invoices from last month.”
Text-based Search
For shorter queries (two words or less), the system defaults to traditional text search. If you want to search for a specific phrase longer than two words, just wrap it in double quotes.
Search Suggestions
Dynamic suggestions pop up based on your data, letting you click and run searches instantly. This reduces effort and speeds up your workflow.
“Search suggestions display dynamic options based on the table data, streamlining user experience.”
Why This Matters
Natural Language Search lowers the barrier for users who aren’t tech experts but still need quick data access. It’s perfect for IT pros and business users alike, making Power Pages even more powerful and user-friendly.
Microsoft is eager to hear your feedback to keep improving this feature. Dive in, try it out, and share your thoughts to help shape the future of Power Pages.
