The Intune device page you have been clicking through for years is going away in the September 2609 service release. Message Center notice MC1456780 (published August 17, 2026) says the redesigned single-device view becomes the only view. The legacy page is retired. No features get removed. The left-nav scavenger hunt does.
The new page has been in public preview since the April 2604 release, and in a lot of tenants the preview toggle is already on. You can still flip Preview new device view off and land on the old layout. After 2609 that switch is gone.
What the page looks like now
Open a device from Devices > All devices and you get one full-page layout instead of a pile of left-nav sections. Four tabs cover the work you actually do:
- Device action status: requested, in-progress, and recently completed actions. Searchable, sortable, filterable. This is the tab that answers “did that wipe actually run?”
- Tools and reports: the old Overview tab. Compliance, configuration status, remediations. Stuff that used to live in other corners of the admin center.
- Properties: fields an admin can edit, with scope tags visible and a dedicated editing view.
- Device details: the old Hardware tab. Physical specs plus the Entra and Intune identity bits.
An Essentials strip sits at the top of every tab, so you do not bounce just to check serial number, user, or compliance. Device actions are grouped the same way across platforms, and destructive actions sit apart and ask for confirmation.
What preview added after 2604
The June 15, 2026 What’s new notes tightened the page in ways helpdesk will actually feel. After Reset passcode, Recover passcode, Remote Lock, or Rotate BitLocker Keys, the action-status table can show the passcode or PIN for a short window. That used to be a second hunt.
Lost Mode can be turned on and off from the page. Supervised iOS devices get a badge in Essentials, and supervised-only actions show up when the device actually supports them. Device actions also work when Multi Admin Approval policies are on, which was a real gap in the first preview. You can copy values from Essentials, jump the User and Compliance links, see co-management info, and remove the primary user from an Entra joined device.
Turn the preview on this week
In the Intune admin center: Devices > All devices, flip Preview new device view to On. No policy. No rollout ring. It is a per-admin toggle.
One preview quirk: the new view only loads when you open the device from Devices > All devices. A report, a compliance policy, or a search result still dumps you on the old page even with the toggle on. Muscle memory will fight you until 2609. That is a reason to practice, not a reason to leave the toggle off.
What to fix before 2609
Microsoft’s prep list is short: update your documentation and get used to the page. That is the whole ticket. Do it anyway.
Screenshot libraries, helpdesk runbooks, and “click Hardware, then…” training clips will be wrong the week the toggle disappears. Walk a wipe, a Fresh Start, a Lost Mode toggle, and a passcode reset on the new page with whoever takes those tickets. If you publish internal how-tos, retake the screens this month.
The page does not change Graph, assignments, or what a remote action does. It changes where the admin looks while the ticket is open. That is enough to slow a busy queue if nobody has seen it yet.
