Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.5733 is now available in the Beta Channel, bringing new File Explorer features for work accounts, key fixes for Start menu crashes, taskbar issues, and lock screen widgets. Some known bugs remain, with ongoing fixes planned.

Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.5733: What’s New?
Microsoft just dropped the latest Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.5733 for Beta Channel users. This update targets version 24H2 and brings some cool new features and fixes, especially for those signed in with work or school accounts.
File Explorer Gets Smarter
One standout update is in File Explorer. If you’re logged in with an Entra ID (work or school account), you’ll now see people icons under the “Activity” column on File Explorer Home. Hovering over these icons reveals the Live Persona Card from Microsoft 365, making collaboration smoother.
Settings Streamlined
Microsoft removed the “Manage or clear your Bing search history” option from Settings. Instead, you can handle your Bing search history directly through the Privacy dashboard. This change simplifies privacy management and keeps things neat.
Major Fixes You Should Know
Start Menu Stability
The update fixes a pesky bug causing the Start menu to crash for some users in recent builds. This should improve daily navigation and reduce frustration.
Taskbar & System Tray Improvements
Previously, clicking and sliding the mouse on taskbar preview thumbnails could break clicking functionality. That issue is now resolved, making multitasking smoother.
Lock Screen and Input Fixes
Widgets on the lock screen will now display correctly without crashes. Plus, multi-finger touchpad gestures are back in action after being broken in the last flight.
Known Issues and What to Expect
Despite the improvements, some bugs remain. For example, certain Insiders may face update rollbacks with error 0x80070005. Microsoft suggests using the “Fix issues using Windows update” tool in Recovery settings.
Another quirky bug causes the Start menu to show blank categories for every alphabet letter. Switching views temporarily fixes it. Also, dark mode colors in File Explorer might look off, with low space drives showing lighter reds.
Gaming and Accessibility
Xbox controllers connected via Bluetooth may cause PC crashes. The workaround involves uninstalling a specific XboxGameControllerDriver.inf driver. Meanwhile, live captions can crash during live translation on Copilot+ PCs.
