Snipping Tool Gets a Major Upgrade with Text Extractor
Exciting news for Windows Insiders! The Snipping Tool is rolling out a new feature that will change how you capture text. This update is currently available for users in the Canary and Dev Channels of Windows 1
What’s New?
The latest version, 12503.27.0, introduces a Text Extractor feature. This tool is designed to streamline the process of copying text from your screen. Now, you can extract text without needing to take a full screenshot.
“This update minimizes the number of steps it takes to copy text to your clipboard.”
To get started, simply open the Snipping Tool using the shortcut Win + Shift + S or launch the app directly. You’ll notice a new “Text Extractor” button in the toolbar. Click it, and you’re ready to go!
Major Updates to Text Extraction
With the Text Extractor, you can select any region of your screen, just like you would with a standard rectangle snip. After selecting the area, you have two options:
- Manually select the text you want to copy.
- Click the “Copy all text” button to quickly grab everything in the selected region.
Additionally, there’s a “More options” dropdown menu. This menu allows you to:
- Remove line breaks from copied text.
- Automatically copy text, which dismisses Snipping Tool and sends the text directly to your clipboard.
What’s Important to Know
Feedback is crucial in this phase. Microsoft encourages users to share their thoughts through the Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under Apps > Snipping Tool. Your insights will help shape future updates!
“We love getting feedback from the community and will be looking out for your thoughts and suggestions.”
This new feature is a game-changer for productivity. It simplifies text extraction and enhances the overall user experience. So, if you’re a Windows Insider, dive into this update and explore the possibilities!
