Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27813: What’s New?
The latest Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27813 has just dropped in the Canary Channel. This build brings a few exciting changes and improvements for tech enthusiasts eager to explore the latest features.
Major Updates and Improvements
This update includes a small set of general improvements aimed at enhancing the overall experience for Insiders. Notably, the Location History feature has been removed. This API was previously used by Cortana to access device location history. As a result, location data will no longer be saved locally, and related settings will disappear from the Privacy & Security menu.
“The builds we release to the Canary Channel represent the latest platform changes early in the development cycle.”
Key Fixes in This Build
Several critical fixes have been implemented in this build. For instance, an issue with the WDMAud system driver that caused app crashes after recent MIDI work has been resolved. Additionally, a problem in the Settings app related to color management has been addressed. Users can now expect a smoother experience when managing display settings.
Important Notes for Insiders
For those joining the Canary Channel on a new Copilot+ PC, be aware of a significant caveat. Transitioning from other channels may result in the loss of Windows Hello PIN and biometrics. Users may encounter error 0xd0000225, but they can recreate their PIN by selecting “Set up my PIN.”
Another known issue involves a d3d9.dll crash causing multiple apps to fail to launch. The team is actively working on a fix for this issue.
What to Expect Moving Forward
Insiders should remember that features in the Canary Channel are experimental. They may change, be removed, or never make it to a public release. Some features may even appear in the Dev and Beta Channels first before reaching the Canary Channel.
To switch off the Canary Channel, a clean installation of Windows 11 is required. Keep in mind that the desktop watermark seen in these pre-release builds is normal.
“Some features in active development may not be fully localized and localization will happen over time.”
Stay tuned for more updates and keep providing feedback through the Feedback Hub. Happy testing, Insiders!
