Windows 11 is set to enhance productivity with new AI features on Copilot+ PCs, including improved search capabilities and the innovative Recall feature. Users can find files using natural language, while Recall allows for time-based content retrieval. These advancements prioritize security and user control, making everyday computing more efficient.

New AI Experiences Transform Productivity on Windows 11 Copilot+ PCs
Microsoft is revolutionizing productivity with the introduction of AI capabilities on Windows 11 Copilot+ PCs. This shift aims to enhance everyday computing experiences.
What’s New
The first preview of Recall is rolling out for Windows Insiders. This feature will initially support Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs, with AMD and Intel support coming soon. Recall allows users to search across time using natural language, making it easier to find previously viewed content.
“Artificial intelligence is transforming everyday computing, and Windows 11 is evolving to meet this change.”
Major Updates
One of the standout features is the improved Windows Search. This enhancement utilizes AI models that leverage the on-board neural processing unit (NPU) on Copilot+ PCs. Users can now search for files using associated words and phrases, eliminating the need to remember exact file names.
For instance, searching for “red barn” will return relevant documents and images, even if the phrase isn’t in the file name. This intuitive search capability will be available through the Windows Insider Program in early 2025.
Recall (Preview)
Recall is designed to enhance user engagement by taking frequent snapshots of the active screen. These snapshots are locally stored and encrypted, allowing users to explore their digital timeline. However, Recall is off by default for managed devices, ensuring IT departments maintain control over its use.
“We’ve taken additional steps to ensure Recall is secure, private, and manageable.”
New Enterprise-Grade IT Controls
To prioritize security and manageability, Microsoft is introducing new IT controls for Recall. These include options to enable or disable Recall, manage snapshot storage, and filter specific apps and websites from being snapshotted.
Click to Do (Preview)
Another exciting feature is Click to Do, which simplifies workflows by making text and images selectable. This feature suggests relevant actions that integrate seamlessly into users’ tasks. For example, it can recommend visual searches or image editing options.
Click to Do will also be available in preview soon and will require organizations to enable Recall to use this feature.
What’s Important to Know
These AI-driven enhancements are designed for managed Windows Pro and Enterprise organizations. They aim to improve productivity while maintaining user control and security.
Stay tuned for more updates as these features roll out through the Windows Insider Program!
