What’s New in This Year’s Report?

This year, Microsoft introduced new global Self-ID data, expanding its focus on Indigenous and military employees, as well as those with disabilities. Notably, 5.7% of global employees in the core Microsoft business self-identified as having a disability, reflecting a 0.2 percentage point increase from last year.

Major Updates in Workforce Representation

Workforce representation saw notable changes. The representation of women in the core Microsoft workforce rose to 31.6%, a 0.4 percentage point increase year over year. In technical roles, women now represent 27.2%, marking a 0.5 percentage point increase.

Leadership representation for Black and African American employees at the Partner + Executive level grew to 4.3%, while Hispanic and Latinx employees at the Executive level increased to 4.6%.

Pay Equity and Employee Engagement

Microsoft continues to prioritize pay equity. The median unadjusted pay analysis shows progress in narrowing gaps, particularly for women and racial and ethnic minority groups. This year, the analysis expanded to include a global view of women, enhancing transparency.

Employee engagement remains high, with an average score of 76 in their semi-annual Employee Signals survey. This survey measures employee perceptions of thriving, defined as feeling energized and empowered to do meaningful work.
