Microsoft has unveiled Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.4300 for the Beta Channel, featuring a revamped Start menu, a new Chinese font, and enhanced security with Less Privileged App Containers. Users can now enjoy new clock widgets, though some known issues persist. Insiders are encouraged to provide feedback on these updates.

Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.4300: What’s New?
On October 4, 2024, Microsoft announced the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.4300 to the Beta Channel. This build introduces several exciting features and improvements that Insiders can explore.
Major Updates in This Build
One of the most notable changes is the renaming of the Start menu’s “All apps” section to simply “All.” This change began rolling out with Build 22635.4291 earlier this week. Additionally, a new simplified Chinese font, Simsun-ExtG, has been added, featuring 9,753 ideographs. This font includes the complex character for Biangbiang noodles, which is often regarded as the most complicated Chinese character.
“The character U+30EDD is said to be the most complicated Chinese character.”
Security Enhancements
Security is a priority in this build. Windows Search now operates with IFilters in Less Privileged App Containers (LPAC). This model restricts permissions, allowing a process to access only the resources it needs. Consequently, this minimizes potential damage from compromised processes by limiting their access to sensitive system components.
Fixes and Known Issues
This build also addresses several issues. A high-impact explorer.exe crash affecting Insiders has been fixed. Additionally, an issue causing unexpected padding in the File Explorer navigation pane has been resolved. However, some known issues persist. Users may notice unexpected spacing in the Start menu’s all apps list and crashes when using live captions.
“Features and experiences included in these builds may never get released as we try out different concepts.”
New Clock Widgets
Another exciting addition is the update to the Clock app, which now includes countdown and timer widgets. Insiders can access these widgets by updating to version 11.2408.9.0 or higher from the Microsoft Store. Simply click the “+” button in the widgets board to add them.
What to Remember
Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel will receive updates based on Windows 11, version 23H2. Features may change or be removed based on user feedback. To stay updated, Insiders can turn on the toggle in Settings > Windows Update to receive the latest features as they become available.
Stay tuned for more updates and make sure to provide feedback through the Feedback Hub!
