Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.4291: What’s New?

On September 30, 2024, Microsoft unveiled the latest Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.4291 in the Beta Channel. This update introduces several exciting features and improvements aimed at enhancing user experience.

Major Updates

One of the standout changes is in the Task Manager. The Disconnect and Logoff dialogs now support dark mode and text scaling. Users can easily identify disk types in the Performance section, making system monitoring more intuitive.

Another significant update is the transformation of Tailored Experiences into Personalized Offers during the Out-Of-Box Experience (OOBE). This new setting allows users to opt-out of data collection, promoting greater privacy.

“Personalized offers will let users opt-out of allowing Windows to use info about their devices.”

Fixes and Improvements

Alongside new features, this build addresses several bugs. Issues causing explorer.exe crashes, particularly when using ALT + Tab, have been resolved. Additionally, the Start menu now functions correctly when clicking on letters in the All apps list.

For the Beta Channel, fixes include:

  • Microsoft Defender for Endpoint sync issues.
  • PIN prompts for encrypted emails in Outlook.
  • Stability improvements in Microsoft Edge.

Snipping Tool Update

The Snipping Tool also received a noteworthy update. Users can now select a new default folder for saving screenshots and screen recordings. This feature enhances organization and accessibility.

“Just go to app settings in Snipping Tool to select a new default folder.”

What’s Important to Know

Insiders in the Beta Channel will receive updates based on Windows 11, version 23H2. Features may roll out gradually, and users can enable the toggle in Settings to receive updates as they become available.

Keep in mind that not all features will be released beyond the Insider Program. Some may change or be removed based on user feedback. This approach ensures that Microsoft can refine features before they reach the broader public.
