Revamping the iOS/iPadOS ADE Experience in Microsoft Intune

Microsoft Intune is taking strides to transform the iOS/iPadOS Automated Device Enrollment (ADE) experience. This comes after the announcement in July 2021 that running the Company Portal in Single App Mode until authentication is no longer supported by Apple for iOS/iPadOS ADE.

What’s New?

The team at Microsoft has been diligently working on enhancing the ADE experience. They have introduced the Setup Assistant with modern authentication, Just in Time (JIT) registration, and compliance remediation, along with the “Await until configuration” setting.

Setup Assistant with Modern Authentication

The Setup Assistant with modern authentication is a key update. It streamlines the process of device setup, making it more efficient and user-friendly.

Just in Time Registration and Compliance Remediation

Just in Time registration and compliance remediation are other significant updates. They ensure that devices are registered and compliant, providing a secure and smooth experience for users.

“Await until Configuration” Setting

The “Await until configuration” setting adds another layer of control for administrators, allowing them to ensure devices are properly configured before they are used.

Important Updates

Looking forward, Microsoft plans to remove the functionality for the “Run Company Portal in Single App Mode until authentication” in the first half of 2024.
